Und das frage ich, weil ich ab 2018 ein Winora Trekkingrad für damals 300 € (neu gekauft) hatte, welches mir immer treuen Dienst erwiesen hat.

Ich hab seitdem 2x das Ritzel hinten erneuert, Kette 1x, Ritzel vorne 1x, Reifen 2x, Bremsbeläge ?x. Standard-Kram halt.

2023 hab ich mir aber als Hauptrad ein neues Kalkhoff Endeavor gekauft (1.000 € neu), wollte ich doch unbedingt Riemenantrieb und hydraulische Bremsen.
(Das „alte“ Rad hab ich als Ersatzrad behalten.)
Und seit ich das habe, ist mir Stand heute schon: das Schutzblech vorne irreparabel weggebrochen, der Riemen dieses Jahr gerissen beim Anfahren und neulich das Tretlager kaputt gegangen. In nur 2 Jahren.

Mit dem neuen Rad bin ich nun ca. 6.000 km gefahren. Das alte kann ich kaum schätzen (da bin ich noch nicht täglich mit dem Rad zur Arbeit und wohnte noch näher dran).

Ich wollte mal abgleichen mit euren Erfahrungen: hab ich mit dem alten Rad viel Glück oder mit dem neuen einfach nur Pech, oder hab ich einen blöden Hersteller erwischt?

They’re inescapable at this point, yet I don’t see them mocked (as much as they should be)

Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldn’t be surgeons because they didn’t believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I can’t escape them, I would love to sneer at them.

In the United States, a bill has been proposed to mandate geolocation tracking of all high-end graphics cards. This was supposedly meant to monitor Chinese imports of Nvidia GPUs for AI-related purposes.

Last week, a U.S. congressman announced a plan to introduce a bill that would mandate producers of high-performance AI processors to track them geographically in a bid to limit their usage by unauthorized foreign actors, such as China. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas then introduced a legislative measure later in the week. The bill covers hardware that goes way beyond just AI processors, and would give the Commerce Secretary power to verify the location of hardware, and put mandatory location controls on commercial companies. To make matters even more complicated, geo-tracking features would be required for high-performance graphics cards as well.

The bill covers a wide range of products classified as 3A090, 4A090, 4A003.z, and 3A001.z export control classification numbers (ECCNs), so advanced processors for AI, AI servers (including rack-scale solutions), HPC servers, and general-purpose electronics of strategic concern due to potential military utility or dual-use risk. It should be noted that many high-end graphics cards (such as Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 5090) are also classified as a 3A090 product, so it looks like such add-in-boards will also have to add geo-tracking capabilities.

The first and central provision of the bill is the requirement for tracking technology to be embedded in any high-end processor module or device that falls under the U.S. export restrictions. This condition would take effect six months after the legislation is enacted, which will make the lives of companies like AMD, Intel, and Nvidia harder, as adding a feature to already developed products is a tough task. The mechanism must allow verification of a chip's or device's physical location, enabling the U.S. government to confirm whether it remains at the approved endpoint. Yet, exporters would be obliged to keep track of their products.

While this won't impact most consumers, I am concerned that a successful passage of this bill may warrant a examination of our hardware requirements. Again, this is more of a wait-and-see situation rather than genuine panic for tech enthusiasts.

Context: I usually don't follow a recipe and just make things ad hoc with a generic set of (usually shelf-stable) ingredients I keep. I just mixed together the following:

• Quinoa
• Vegetable broth
• A Mediterranean seasoning mix I combined myself from like 20 herbs and spices
• A light drizzle of olive oil
• A handful of grape leaves
• About a spoonful of pomegranate molasses (never saw this ingredient before but found it on a good sale; shockingly versatile)
• About a spoonful of mango/peach jam (don't ask; I choose minor ingredients like a pregnant person)

It tastes good, but it's very homogenous flavor-wise, texture-wise, and nutrient-wise. Mainly I'm thinking of solid ingredients. Avocado? I had none on hand, but maybe next time. If I liked olives more, they'd go well with the grape leaves and Mediterranean spices to make it sort of Greek. I have a tomato, but I didn't add it; maybe I was wrong? Vegan feta exists, but I didn't like feta when I ate animal products. I bet falafel would work nicely, but I have no way to make them. The sweet ingredients already in the recipe don't make the dish taste "sweet"; they just add a bit of background flavor, and I don't want anything too sweet in it after those (except a squeeze of citrus juice which I didn't have on hand). I think white wine would be good, but I never drink, so a lot goes to waste if I use it for cooking. Lastly, I'm thinking I want the dish to be hot instead of chilled, but that's probably a stupid idea.

TL;DR: Having writer's block in finishing a potentially decent recipe; I feel like I want to go in a Greek direction, but I have little experience with making Greek food.
