Still, it's interesting that you have a *choice* of how to arrange them to get periodic or aperiodic tilings.
Other aperiodic tiles force the aperiodic tiling. (Or, in the case of Penrose tiles: either it's aperiodic and infinite or it's finite because I assembled it wrong.
