If you cut videos of dancing to clips that were like 1 bar, 2 bars, 4, 16 etc, you could change the playback speed to match the length of your musical bars and change the video play head location using break beat cutting algorithms.
This would be easier than trying to detect beats in film dancing via image analysis.
If your video cutter spoke osc, you could set it directly from a pbind or via bbcut.

Which is also true of many audio synthesis techniques, so I don't want to diss the system, just think about how to use it in a way thats effective for me.
I think what I'm interested in doing with visuals is working with film clips, like the dancing scene in Dybbuk and the 'history of communism' scene in Aelita Queen of Mars, and also nuclear test videos like I used in Male America Grate Again, especially the film of the pine trees.
I have an algorithmic video cutter I wrote in processing that accepts OSC, so I might look at modifying that to increase the possibilities of remote control.
Or maybe the new rust sclang engine has an easier plugin architecture and we can get video in sclang.
