Ok can I get a quick #WristCheck from everyone? I'm curious about the range of timepieces here.

Take a picture of your watch right now and say what it is. I'll start, Armitron Griffy.

Boosts appreciated.

@bob I still love watches and have a few but rarely wear them these days since I can’t code comfortably while wearing one.

They make all kinds of colours (top row is all F91W):

Theoritically, I like the classic Casio watches. I like the form factor, the function, its display.

But I _hate hate hate_ the panel with the text on it.
I mean, look at it. There is ton of texts, often useless (who need its reference on the front ?).
Moreover, they use 5 colors ! Why ?! Two would be more than enough (and subsequent models do mostly that).

Anyway. All that text irks me too much. Sadly :/

@kev @exterm a great collection! I recognize some from the 80s ... I think. I had the one with the calculator for a while, too.

Haven’t worn a watch since July 1st, 2009, the day I retired. My crew got me an iPhone 3s and if I need to know what time it is, I check the phone

Seriously? Freedom from wearing a watch is the frosting on the cake of life (unless you don’t like frosting), my time is my own so I generally have no need to have a watch.
Now, if they made a watch that just showed the day of the week, because I know to stay home on the weekend to avoid the crowds, that might be useful.
Still, I’m not about to shackle my wrist to a tyrant like time

@CivilityFan “shackling your wrist to a tyrant” is a bit much…especially since you have an iPhone in your pocket. 😂

Side note - good job on keeping an iPhone 3 alive these days. That's impressive!

If you don't find watches interesting, or worse still, “tyrannical,” why insert yourself into a conversation where multiple watch enthusiasts are having a good time. Just move on…

Sorry, didn’t mean to rain on your parade. Enjoy your watch, if you must. I suppose keeping track of time is one quality that separates humans from all of the other animals.
Btw, that iPhone has been replaced several times, though i did replace a screen and a battery prior to the upgrade.

@CanisMajoris Guys this is probably a stupid question, but how do you fit Nato straps on these? The pins on my f-91 are (seem?) too tight for the straps. @ruari

@veanova personally, I put the pin through the first hole and have it protruding out slightly. Then I slide the NATO behind the pin and slide the pin over the NATO. It can be a bit of a challenge to send the pin home through the other lug, but once you get the technique down, it's pretty easy.

Don't change them too often though, as the F-91W has a friction fit on the pin within the plastic lug, so the more you change straps, the looser the pins get.

@gpowerf That Omega 👌

Love the Vostok on the leather NATO, suits it perfectly. The Orient Mako(?) is really nice too.

Where did you get the Casio Duro with the white dial? I didn’t know they existed and I have to own one!

Great collection. 👍

Als Antwort auf Kev Quirk

the Vostok was my attempt to create someone Nemo would wear. As for the white dial Duro, I got it on Ebay, and they are not common because it's the only one I've seen.

PS: yes, Orient Mako, heavily used and very faded and scratched bezel.

@gpowerf The bronze bezel on the Vostok is sweet. I recently picked up a bronze Seagull 1963 and I’m loving it - the patina the bronze accumulates is so nice.

I really to add a Mako to my collection - they’re great watches.

@kev The Mako is very nice 😁 and that Omega that you mentioned is a gold-plated DeVille, and yesterday I found someone to service it for a reasonable price.
