To all users on pods which are closing, don't forget to download your posts and photos archives, I'm planing to enable an early version of the migration import on diaspora-fr.org so that you can move with your contacts and posts if you wish to.

Even if you manually expand them and save to HTML, they still end up hidden.

Yet at least it's something and quite useful for your own memory.
Seeing the post's just pushes you into time and space.
Also, I did this in that case from another pod, so the links actually can point to pod.geraspora.de for example, that way maybe this could work.
I also asked David, as well as in the moment joindiaspora went down, if they couldn't turn the page into a static page cutting off federation communication. That would turn such a site into kind a graveyard with no more maintenance need and only few expenses I guess.
But the response was more like .. "who cares" ..
A pity, actually I think such sites should always offer the hand over to the community by default. As in this case diasporg diasporians just found out, the benevolent dictator idea is a shitty one ..
The mastodon server troet.cafe was about to go down. A overwhelmed admin was helplessly behind with the updates and so on. Another admin stepped in, took over the maintenance part and now troet is up to date and happily running.

There are important lessons to make in all these events, the fedi community came a long way. Backup setups and agreements between admins and servers and all that is mandatory if we want a resilient space that doesn't die because users get feed up because of loosing every once in a while everything.
Also we are facing a free rider mentality by all those who come from the walled gardens where the money is made with the user data and advertisement that doesn't work. digital.courage came up with mandatory once a year payment for any account. And they are right in my opinion.
