Is Bluesky 'obeying in advance'?
The #Bluesky Jesse Singal controversy took an interesting turn this weekend. Two articles one in Advocate (advocate.com/business/bluesky-…) and another in TechCrunch (techcrunch.com/2024/12/13/blue…) suggest the refusal to ban the anti-trans podcaster may be due to fear of regulatory action.
"...this decision could put the social media company at risk with the FCC since Brendan Carr, Trump’s pick... plans to go after tech companies he thinks are censoring right-wing voices." 👀
Bluesky at a crossroads as users petition to ban Jesse Singal over anti-trans views, harassment | TechCrunch
Now with 25 million users, Bluesky is facing a test that will determine whether or not its platform will still be seen as a safe space and place of refugeSarah Perez (TechCrunch)

Stux immediately published the notice (mstdn.social/@stux/11365246164…) making very very clear his intent to defy it. When his hosting company backed him up, he published that (mstdn.social/@stux/11366257336…). And now he is trolling the Russians (mstdn.social/@stux/11366384855…).
A profile in courage!

On the day after the election @Gargron posted (mastodon.social/@Gargron/11343…): "I think it's going to be more important than ever that #Mastodon and the #fediverse are not centrally operated out of the US unlike almost every other social media platform out there."
Case in point.

Feel free to let me know of any domains they use besides
rkn.gov.ru
so they can also be added to the spammer blocklist I maintain...lists.d/spammers.domains.block.list.tsv at main · greyhat-academy/lists.d

Edited to 'podcaster' for now to align with the article.
Thanks for the comment.
